A Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) shows off the breeding plumage on the back of its head. There are five different species of Egret in Australia and I find that the variation in breeding plumage and bill/facial skin colour is very helpful when trying to identify them. This photo was taken earlier in the week at Campbells Swamp.
