A pair of Murray Turtles (Emydura macquarii), also known as Murray Short-necked Turtles, soak up some sun on a log in Gunbower Creek. This was a common sight along the waterways in Gunbower Forest, however trying to get a photo was quite a challenge! They are a very shy animal and the slightest movement on the bank will send them sliding into the water. EXIF: Canon EOS 30D : 1/400 sec : f 7.1 : 400 mm : ISO 160
I have struggled to get shots of turtles and as you say as soon as they detect the slightest movement they slip right into the water.
These guys have the longest legs I think I've ever seen on a turtle.

Were they ignoring each other on purpose? I hope they managed to sort their differences :) Excellent shot David.

You got them just after the fight, hope they made up later on ;-)

They are great looking turtles - if hard to get shot like this as you say. Turtles don't like being look at directly, as soon as they see you looking at them there off.
