I photographed this Bush Tomato flower while in the Northern Flinders Ranges, South Australia. This native plant grows in central Australia and was once a valuable food source to the Aboriginals. The fruits were traditionally gathered in large amounts, ground to form a paste, rolled into balls and were then covered with red ochre ready for sun-drying. Sometimes the fruits are also referred to as Bush Raisins because in hotter areas they can shrivel on the shrub, which concentrate the sugars to produce sweet bush treats.
